Absurd Patterns of Spam

Few months ago, i’ve encountered spam in my comments section of Wordpress hosted blog. Akismet caught it & sorted it under Spam comments area. Ok that’s not new story, So why i’m writing about that spam? well it was one of those funniest spams you can get on your blog, be it Wordpress/typepad or blogger blog.

So let’s start with the first pattern of spam:

“I disagree with your first paragraph but your last paragraph makes sense to me. Thanks and nice post.”
Wow! What a nice way to send your own link with this message in every blog on the internet. At first every comment receiver will get confused whether to delete it or not. But if you take close look at that comment you’ll understand that most of the time your first paragraph is introduction of your niche topic, so how can any reader starts to disagree with it at first & later agrees to it. ;) No doubt once you realize that you’ll laugh for long time.

More patterns which are easily blocked by Anti-spam systems are:

“ Any other you can mention?”
- Now that’s something easy & immediate candidate for Spam. If the post you’ve written is poetry or simple code then this comment is something that is immediate spam for all of us.

“google”
- Why people use name as google & URL of their blog as hyperlink & post comment as google again?. This way spammer thinks “Anti-spam system” can’t filter them, which is very poor observation & they get kicked immediately.

“Please send me software on my email id. Its very urgent.Plz HELP."
- If blogger is reviewing software or service /ebook then obviously these are the comments they’re like;y to get. Again almost every intermediate blogger knows that how urgent anyone can be for the ebook/software etc. You can see threads/scraps/PM’s of such messages on Online forums/Orkut/Facebook as well.

There are plenty of such “mysterious encounters of spam comments” stories i can write. I would love to hear from others about this,so i’m going to ask people on Orkut & other forums on this topic.
